FRENCH-LANGUAGE MONTESSORI SCHOOL SEES BUREAUCRATIC HURDLES

The bureaucrats are at it again; at least that is what an angry Moncton daycare operator feels. They are thus blamed for the unreasonable delays taking place while the setting up of a French-language Montessori school. The owner of the proposed school that is yet to be established is angrily shouting red-tapism coming in way of the school work from getting finished.

As of now the day care operator already owns and runs an English language Montessori school that is in Moncton. In the mean while the owners had also asked for an application to open up a French language school.

McSorley is unpleasantly surprised at how disappointed she is with the provincial government who are nothing short of demoralizing. It is like they are simply not paying any heed to her calls. This has also affected about thirty parents who are looking at sending their kids to the new and to be set up school.

It is the Department of Social Development that looks after these matters as licensing daycares in the province. On the other hand however, there is spokesperson Mark Barbour on behalf of the department who stated how it usually takes as many as three to six months when it comes to reviewing an operating license. The provincial government does have to consider a lot many things before giving the final go ahead nod to the applicants in such matters.

Then there are also the various departments who are thus consulted. These include the Department of Public Safety, the Department of Health and even the Office of the Fire Marshal. These are asked for their thorough inputs while doing the daycare's review.

In the mean while the frustration continues of parents who were hopeful earlier of sending their children to this French-language program. Then there are the financial issues that the business partners are facing, those involved in building of the new day care facility. They are paying for the rent of the building, at the same time there is simply no revenue coming in. then there is the mega sum of much over hundred thousand dollars that is being put in renovations. The hard ship for these owners simply continues even as the bureaucrats continue to take their own sweet time.

LANGUAGE ISSUES IN CANADA

The command over a particular language in a country for once may affect how much you earn there. This is indeed a fact that has been revealed according to a new study made in Canada. The research was conducted by Canadian universities. People who are weak with their command over the language of French and English in Canada actually tend to get wages cut by as much as thirty percent.

Economist Thomas Lemieux and Brahim Boudarbat from University of B.C. and Universite de Montreal respectively came up with this study that brought to light these issues. The report was thus named by the federal department of human resources publication as: The Poor Got Poorer. There has been a segregation going on even among immigrants. This is even comparing them with native born and native speaking Canadians.

For once, these immigrants are either doing much better than the natives or for that matter doing extremely bad. This is in diverse fields of education, Business, etc. Even as the rich get richer in one of the most affluent countries of the world today, the ones who are yet struggling continue to struggle only some more now. This is all the more true for the immigrants that come from Asia which actually sees as many as two thirds of them coming in.

Immigrants with very strong control over the languages of English and French, high educational qualifications and work experience tend to do much better when compared with the others. Add to this, the ones who come to the country still in their twenties or younger than twenty fare even better as they are thus able to adjust themselves to the overall surrounding of the country much better.

As many as 12.7 per immigrants in 2001 had strong educational qualifications, that included postgraduate degrees. Now compare this with the mere 5.5 per cent of Canadians with postgraduate degrees.

Then there are those who are very poor with their language skills in terms French and English and are even poor in terms their educational qualifications.

Another major hindrance here is that education comes very expensive, even costlier than the other luxuries of today. This is where the relatively uneducated ones from humble back ground find it increasingly difficult to get themselves and their kids the best of education in the affluent country of Canada.

Right from the French cuisine, wine, the romantic visual sites that the place is full of, to the very French language for that matter, everything about the country is as exotic as it can get.

As for learning French, the language is always considered to be classy and elite, sophisticated and subtle. But then while learning the language, one may as well make sure that he makes no mistakes as far as pronunciation and spelling is concerned. The French for once are very strict with the right sounding while talking French. Add to this the fact that non-natives while speaking French may even take double the efforts to speak and read French as exquisitely as possible.

A new school opens up teaching French and concentrating on the non native citizens who desire to learn the language. The Ecole Suisse de Langues will thus ensure and people who come here seeking the best of command over the language of French will get nothing short of it and go back speaking elegant French much admired.

Apart from French of course, one may as well learn the complete nuances of swish language. The same teaching process is offered by the institute while teaching both the languages. But then ESL is not the only institute offering complete teaching in French. There is a string of other coaching classes coming up in the region that offer their services with teaching people to have a rich command over French for once. But then it is the passionate drive to teach even non natives speak French like they always belonged from the country of France is what sees the ESL become different from others.
